2018 NCARB Scholar, Collaboration with NCARB Washington D.C., Developing Best Practices for Architectural Education.

As a member of the inaugural NCARB Scholars in Professional Practice Program, I had the opportunity to join a select group of 10 professors from across the country in Washington, D.C. This program, hosted by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, was designed to develop best practices in architectural education with feedback and collaboration from professors teaching professional practice subjects.

We engaged in presentations and interactive sessions that challenged the group to explore new teaching techniques and critically evaluate the content of professional practice topics. Being an NCARB Scholar is important because it fosters innovation and prepares professors to better prepare students for the complexities of architectural practice.

Scholars explored several topics related to teaching & professional practice, including:

  • The future of academia and practice

  • Ethics in architecture

  • Teaching methods

  • Curriculum development
