Stereotomic Details, Placement, and Arrangement in Material.

Stereotomic detail refers to the expressive arrangement of elements that involve solid materials to create new perceptions of detail, structure, and aesthetics, emphasizing mass, weight, and found objects.

This exercise emphasizes the tactile process of sanding, cutting, and stacking wood and other materials in unconventional ways to generate a new sense of design detail. It involves the creative manipulation of solid materials, focuses on mass, weight, and the inherent properties of manipulated and non-manipulated material to craft unexpected aesthetics. By arranging found pieces and sanded materials in novel compositions, the act expands the perception of traditional detail-making and architecture, fostering a deeper exploration of materiality, texture, and how components can interact to reshape perceptions of design and form.
